Animoto: The next level in Video – Audio – Imaging Technology!

Animoto: Now Create YOUR OWN!
The next level in Video – Audio – Imaging Technology!
That’s right, Animoto which is based in New York City with an office in San Francisco has brains that have worked and produced shows for MTV, Comedy Central, & ABC and so much more.
What is it about:
This amazing web application, turns your images and soundtrack into stunning music videos in minutes. It analyzes the pictures, music etc provided and automatically generates a trailer like video.
How does it do it:
It’s engine analyzes users’ photos and music and takes into consideration music’s genre, rhythm, and tempo to generate a video that takes into the song’s nuances.
Wow! A thinking web application.
What’s more amazing is that the site claims no two videos are ever the same.
How did the idea originate:
The masterminds when were working in the film/TV industry, felt that there’s just a big gap between the quality of content you see on the web and the type of stuff that one sees on TV and in film. So the founders of this unique innovation thought, why not narrate one’s pictures with text to tell a story. May be send a message to a loved one and create event invitations and so much of unlimited possibilities.
The Heart of Animoto today:
The heart of Animoto is its newly developed Cinematic Artificial Intelligence technology that thinks like an actual director and editor. It analyzes and combines user-selected images and music with the same sophisticated post-production skills and techniques that are used in television & film.
As of August 2008, 250,000 users in over 200 countries have registered with Animoto.com with 4 million videos and 50 million views
It also have exclusive services for teachers who use it to bring presentations and lesson plans to life in a whole new way for their students.
So what are you waiting for, go and gear up! Create your own!
Let the rhythm take the web over!

Change is in the air! Change is everywhere! – Recession proofing Career!

Career proofing: Flying High! on clouded skies
An amazing 4 hour midnight telephonic conversation and I conclude, I am not made up for phone talk!
I then realized, I did it anyway so may be change IS in the air.
Not trying to jump hoops here. Just getting and catching up with the current market scenario.
Had a wonderful conversation with two very different individuals yesterday which made me blog into ‘The blog is personal again’ section. Both were frustrated & discouraged with their jobs, one had resigned and one was dying to resign. Both had remarkably unique points of view to share on the current scenario.
The one who was free from both income and ‘immediate-earlier’ stress spoke with sheer self-belief of the current industry trend of no / poor job & career opportunities.
I asked him, “How did you take this step then, if the industry is so bad?” He said “I resigned ‘coz the industry is awful anyways, so there is no immediate scale for professional growth in our organization. Whatever be your performance, you would be tagged in with the millions as far as recession in industry goes. So when you know the industry is bad, even the sector that’s doing well refuses to grow or accept growth, so why not resign and start a venture of my dream?”
My long silence, made the optimistically high and free being to continue and add, “When I know what I do for others is not going to get me anywhere, I might as well try to do it for me. If it does not work, I anyway have the industry to blame, its recession everywhere and so if not now, then when?”
I smiled, wished him the best of success and loads of positive morale which he would need whether or not his ‘venture’ clicks.
The other individual still bound by rules, corporate policies and frustrations from one’s superior was very clear, “it’s not a good time to leave. Let’s think about changing careers when the industry does well. I can’t sleep with peace, but can at least pay my daily bills without having to plan or think. What say?”
I had nothing to say, I just nodded.
I realized I have become too patient listening to people. Well, at least one good personal skill I added this year I guessed. But, then I just put forth both queries and pointers together:
- The industry is anyways bad; why not venture into something new. One can change careers when the industry is good or doing great, we would have better professional career opportunities.
- The industry is bad. Now, it’s time to just stay putt and follow with the crowd. When nothing works, at least your bills are still getting paid!
Then I felt, I would ask all of you…. What say? What would you choose? What is your take on this?
Give me your views on the same.
Blessedart!

Writing Blogs for authors (Top list, Free Blogging & More)
Over the past few months, we at TECHDIVINE have been getting quite a few e-mails, enquiring about so many different things on blogging and websites. So we thought, why not list down few of those which were asked repeatedly, post them here and probably even try to link them up with answers / sites / links as possible solutions to those queries:
1. Which would be the best blog site to start with?
There are plenty of sites offering blog start ups for free and for purchase. One best example is our very own WORDPRESS
2. What would you suggest on Group writing for articles on blogs?
Group writing can be for both, writing for getting feedback from groups and write with teams collaborating with other writers on a particular project.
It helps. As in both cases, others critique and give feedback on your writing and you get to collaborate with other writers on projects. It may also help one to refine and polish their writing skills through group interaction and regular critiquing.
3. What is ‘tag writing’ & ‘blogroll’
Tags are words with which you create a connection with your writing to make it searchable by others looking to read or know similar queries / articles / information / topics. For example, if I am writing on a gizmo watch, i can tag it as Watch, Gadget Watch, Gizmo watch etc. You can reach the link here to know more on SEO
Blogroll is a feature of blogs, wherein you connect others landing on your blog to different sites of yours
eg. The Current site / blog where user is let’s say: http://techdivine.com/tdblog and there is a link from here to TDForum
4. Some real good blogging sites where one can get for free / pay a nominal sum and blog, write their daily diary to World news to fitness etc. and may be even get feedback from readers, but discuss on any topic under the sun.
Techdivine’s site on CREATIVE WRITERS BLOG is a fantastic example of that to start with. Here so many different authors have got an opportunity to blog and write on subjects that they enjoy discussing all around. Plus they get feedback, critique from readers, writers across.
There are also sites on Freelance writing blogs on specific news etc like www.instablogs.com
5. How do we decide on interesting writing articles?
Weird, we can’t.
We write (usually) because we want to write.
When we start writing because others want to read, it may end up being just a ‘regular job’. And the passion may get drawn out of it.
Still, if you want to, you can search for popular topics across the world and write on those.
6. On, Writing on Popular authors
We would suggest, reading popular authors or discussing them, their styles and skills with writing groups, peers etc to learn and grow
7. Using pictures on blog
It is a great idea. Always try to do that. Graphic / pictorial appeal always works well. But make sure, you add an image web source and that the images do not have copyrights or restrictions on use by the owner of the images (clicked / created)
TRADEMARK etc
8. How important is writing blogs for upcoming authors
Blogging is simply expressing, sharing your thoughts with the world. You can use text, photos, videos and so much more to make your article to connect with readers. Blogging does not try to replace the traditional writing, but make it more easy to share with refined tools across the globe. It makes writing ‘more’ with rich feedback, inputs, easily possible.
9. Some really good Free Blogs
www.wordpress.com www.blogger.com www.livejournal.com
10. What are RSS feeds and how are they useful
RSS feeds are links that help us to subscribe to a particular topic / forum or website link. It helps both the users and site owners to keep track and update each other of new events / topics etc
An example of RSS with TD Blog would be Click here to Subscribe for FREE: RSS
10. Through blogging am I a renegade writer
“NO”
11. How do we improve writing skills
By writing more, religiously, passionately and seeking advice, views, critique from all those who know about writing and even those who don’t (‘coz they are probably the ones who end up reading it). Be Passionate about it (check this out – Deepak Chopra)
12. What is creative writing
Creative writing is considered to be any writing, fiction, poetry, or non-fiction, that goes outside the bounds of normal professional, journalistic, academic, and technical forms of literature.
13. Who are some prominent successful writers
Too many. Google them around and so many quality writers you would find. You can go to TDFORUM
Forum Title in the site: Book Discussion Forum and Nobel Prize Forum to participate, share, read and keep track of it more.
14. If I want to blog / be an author in your Techdivine site, what is the process involved. Can I send some of my literature and mail you. Should I contact your site admin.
No, please do not send across any works of yours unless it’s requested.
But, for being an author in our site / blog, you can contact our admin at techdivine@gmail.com for more info.
There are also some Interesting writing contests going on in our site TD Site Contest
Keep reading, Keep blogging……

Stay foolish… Stay in!
The Corporate Apple
“As you dream about your passion and work towards you goal,
You make yourself calm and play through your role
You find your name and follow the set game
Be a pawn and monotonously do the same
Stay putt as you search to get things par
Work hard and say pressure & time no bar
Realizing slowly the messed up cobs
Goes away the smile, you see around those sobs
Raced ahead off all, you look behind those in lag
They are still behind, but are holding the Chequered flag”
As the new FY begins, with so many things set in motion, the corporate gets set for the New Year’s game.
You see all around faces that have forgotten to give honest smile for the fear that it might be mistaken for a mockery. Those affected by the Depression / downturn of economy (Corporate / otherwise) have their genuine worries and those who are not affected, want to get a slice of the “Scary Pie”. Sad it sounds!
Strange, we now do not want to let go even of the sad and bad side of economy and want to be an honest part of it. Why?
It helps.
‘It helps to excuse for your downsizing which was already on the cards. It helps to clean up with those who should be a positive addition but in corporate games are not needed to be a part of the system. It helps to share nothing except your actual growth figures with your huge chunk of honest employees who would have poured in their heart and soul to contribute in any which way to their company and at the end, show them down (saying its downturn all around).’
Integrity has been a gift to mock with today, as nothing seems to be in place except constant chaos. It’s sad to see those corporate biggies using excuses to pull down employee’s morale and trust and blame it on the market scenario with ease.
The impact that such uncanny and negative traits seem to be setting across; their cascading effects will be seen in the coming years.
Till then, all those in distress & chaos, those trying to grab that Sweet and forbidden Apple, for now, just hold on to your roots, stay Putt, stay calm and keep your shoes of integrity on…. ‘coz it will always take you par to your final goal……
So may be for now stay foolish but Stay in!

“Promoting Conspiracy, deceit and vengeance”

CLOUDED JUdgements
Yet another negative side of, Recession: It’s Not just about Jobs:
Over the years, calamities, terrorism, economic depression and such scores of slumps have brought about chaos, corruption and coldness among peers and groups.
This time, the global chillness of the yet oncoming and growing recession is already seen taking tolls on not just one’s pocket but majorly amongst lives of one another.
It’s a cat eating dog world today, it actually has been for long, but it’s very much out in the open now.
The world with advent of technology has shrunk into a global village today and with that so have the virtues and the sense of integrity in general.
I am not trying to sound philosophical at all, not even close….
Yet, this is what we can see all around us. With jobs being lost, with money being spent on everything that can have a negative impact on the society, with certain media sections and groups literally going ‘Media crazy’ for sponsors so much as they tweak the news, spoil the plots, anger the mob and even agitate the crowds at time just to get the ratings up without care and concern of its social implications at large.
The situation is only getting worsened.
The concern for the performer, the guidance to the one with high levels of integrity and loyalty is being reciprocated majorly with good old office politics.
Where are we heading to…….

OSCAR – Jai Ho!
Jai Ho, Jai Ho!
Come Home to the Oscars…. Or should I say… Oscars came home….

Finally, Danny Boyle and A R Rahman bring the most coveted Oscars back into the streets of Mumbai.
This is the third win for an Indian at the Oscars. The first being, Bhanu Athaiya who won for costume design in Richard Attenborough’s “Gandhi” made in 1983 and the second being, the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray who was awarded a lifetime achievement Oscar in 1992.
‘Slumdog Millionaire’ swept EIGHT OSCARS at the 81 st Academy Awards including Best Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Film Editing, Original Score, Original Song, Direction and Motion Picture.

Rahman mesmerized the audience with ‘O Saya’ and ‘Jai Ho…’ the nominated songs from ‘Slumdog…’, as the nominees for Best Original Song were being announced. He came, he performed and he swept everyone away….
As the British director Danny Boyle walked in with his cast of Slumdog Millionaire family down the red carpet, all the nine cast members, who played the three main characters in the rags-to-riches magical fable, seemed to further race the hearts of millions of Indians watching all over. There were superstars Anil Kapoor and Irfan Khan also beaming with pride and joy.
Most importantly there were the two young cast members, who still live in Mumbai’s slums, making it very special for each and everyone at home in Mumbai.
The movie fetched Danny Boyle the Best Director award, Simon Beaufoy best Adapted Screenplay and Anthony Dod Mantle the best Cinematography award. The film was also awarded for Best Editing.
Rahman in his acceptance speech after bagging the Original Score Oscar, made LA sound like Mumbai with the legendary dialogue, ‘Mere pass Ma hai’ which means even if I have got nothing I have my mother here. I want to thank her for coming all the way to support me,”
The Gulzar and Rahman composed Lyrics “Jai Ho” won the Best Song.
Resul Pookutty, received the award for Best Sound Mixing with co-recordists Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke.
Also to further glorify this magical night, ‘Smile Pinki’, the tale of a Uttar Pradesh girl and her fight against the social stigma of a cleft-lip, won the Oscar award for Best Documentary (Short). This film was Directed by the Emmy-award winning Megan Mylan.

Let the glory continue……………..

Web 3.0, Fine twining with Twine

Twine & Web3.0
Radar Networks was founded in 2003 by Web visionary Nova Spivack and is pioneering the Semantic Web called as Web 3.0 with a new platform for the next-generation of Web applications.
That is termed as TWINE. In simple terms, Twine will provide a central hub that connects information from around the web in one location. The idea, urbanized mainly to provide a “smarter way to share, organize, and find information” with others.
This is what we term as knowledge networking as the Founder Nova Spivack quotes:
It’s the next evolution of collective intelligence on the Web. Unlike social networking and community tools. Twine is not just about who you know, it’s about what you know. Twine is the ultimate tool for gathering and sharing knowledge on the Web.
Twine can find patterns that may not be easily apparent to users, making information and content on the web more likely to be discovered by those interested. The main USP here is its skill to employ artificial intelligence and natural language processing to scan and understand the meaning of information.
One can also go ahead and register for the Web 3.0 invite.
This technology is created and designed on Radar Networks’ patent-pending platform and complies with the open-standards for the Semantic Web set by W3C.
As a matter of fact, W3C mentions that the semantic web is “about common formats for integration and combination of data drawn from diverse sources,” which is what Twine is all about.
Spivack has also quoted that:
Web 3.0 is best-defined as the coming decade of the Web, during which time semantic technologies will help to transform the Web from a global file-server into something that is more like a worldwide database. By making information more machine-understandable, connected and reusable, the Semantic Web will enable software and websites to grow smarter. Yahoo! was the leader of Web 1.0. Google is the leader of Web 2.0. We don’t yet know who will be the leader of Web 3.0. It’s a bold new frontier, but Twine is a strong first step, and we’re very excited about it.
Web 2.0 swept across like a wildfire with technology booming, so let us see how this adaptation and up-gradation of the booming resource centric world goes to. With so much technological advancements, we can only say a warm and wide welcome to Web 3.0

Facebook: Facing the $15 billion Wall

That’s right! The rapidly picking up social networking website, Facebook launched on February 4, 2004 is said to have users writing to each other using a feature called as Wall of Facebook and it seems that this site could have a pricy wall after all.
Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg and the membership was initially restricted to students of Harvard College which got expanded to other Boston area schools, Rochester, Stanford, NYU, Northwestern, and all Ivy League schools within two months.
As of July 2007, the website had the largest number of registered users among college-focused sites with over 34 million active members worldwide and it also became one of the most visited websites taking a place of 7th ranking.
The name of the site refers to the paper facebooks depicting members of the campus community that U.S. colleges and preparatory schools give to incoming students, faculty, and staff as a way to get to know other people on campus.
The site is free to users and generates revenue from advertising including banner ads and sponsored groups and revenues were said to be around $1.5 million per week at one point of time.
In May 2005, Facebook raised $12.7 million in venture capital from Accel Partners and on August 23, 2005, Facebook bought the domain name facebook.com from the Aboutface Corporation for $200,000 and dropped “the” from its name.
On May 2007, Facebook launched an API that allows the development of applications to be used on the site, known as Facebook Platform.
In June, the partnership begun the previous year between iTunes and Facebook continued, with the download service again offering free music samplers through the Apple Students group.
In July, Facebook announced its first acquisition, purchasing Parakey, Inc. from Blake Ross and Joe Hewitt. To top it all off the great wall then also hired YouTube’s former CFO Gideon Yu on July 24, 2007.
The original big wall, the Wall street Journal reports that software giant Microsoft wants to buy a stake in Facebook before Google does and to top the icing is the pricing which is valued at around $10 billion.
The article seems to further add fuel to the fire by stating that this social networking site might hold out for a higher valuation than Microsoft is willing to agree on as much as $15 billion. Now that is one heavily priced Wall, isn’t it?
Facebook’s appeal to the massive audience out from every corner of the globe is that huge today. With growing internet users worldwide in billions, companies want to take advantage of such huge social media marketing opportunities on the site.
It has come to levels where people have started saying that this could be the next GOOGLE in the making.
It has all the great qualities of reach, rapidly increasing awareness, innovative style and loads of novel ideas for the growing users. It is definitely raking in all the big bucks with $30 million in profits on $150 million in revenue.
Well for the day, Facebook has a long way to go to be the next Google.
The question is whether Microsoft or Google, who would get their hands on Facebook first. With the big gates fighting page to page for a stake in the Wall the stakes only seem to be looking better for the newest face in the world of social networking.
